Molex Taiwan (3665-TW), a major player in the connection cable industry, achieved record-high profitability in the second quarter and delivered the best-ever results for the first half of the year. However, on August 24, the company's stock price collapsed amid concerns that positive financial news had been fully priced in, compounded by the impact of a cybersecurity incident. The shares traded limit-down at NT$2,050 during intraday trading, breaking through the monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual moving average lines.
This morning, Molex Taiwan announced that part of its information systems had been affected by a cybersecurity incident. Upon detecting anomalies, the company immediately activated its cybersecurity response protocol, isolating the impacted systems and initiating comprehensive investigation and recovery procedures. It has also engaged external cybersecurity experts to assist in restoration and forensic analysis.
Molex Taiwan stated that, based on preliminary assessment, the incident has not had a material impact on the company’s overall operations or financial condition. The company emphasized its ongoing commitment to enhancing the security posture of its network and information infrastructure to ensure data protection and operational resilience.
For the second quarter, revenue reached NT$23.281 billion, up 11.59% sequentially and 37.49% year-over-year. Gross margin stood at 30.73%, an increase of 1.96 percentage points quarter-on-quarter but down 0.39 percentage points year-on-year. Net profit after tax amounted to NT$2.982 billion, rising 31.13% sequentially and 47.29% year-on-year, translating to earnings per share (EPS) of NT$15.28.
For the first half of the year, revenue totaled NT$44.145 billion, up 33.55% year-on-year. Gross margin was 29.80%, down 0.95 percentage points year-on-year. Net profit after tax reached NT$5.256 billion, up 44.52% year-on-year, with EPS of NT$26.94—both setting new historical highs.
