US-Iran Economic War Escalates: Iran Warns No Oil Exports Through Strait of Hormuz

Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated once again. US President Trump announced 'devastating economic actions' against Iran, with Treasury Secretary Beasant warning of 'unprecedented economic isolation' measures. Iran responded firmly, warning that if the US continues its economic war, there will be no oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz or the Persian Gulf region.

On the 23rd, Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Rezai, stated that if the US continues its economic war against Iran, no oil will be exported through the Strait of Hormuz or the Persian Gulf. Iran will regard any country participating in or supporting the US-led economic war against the Iranian people as engaging in an act of war.

Mohabbi, spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, also stated on the same day that Iran has prepared countermeasures against various hostile actions by the US, including economic pressure. He noted that the US's recent declaration of launching the 'toughest economic war' reflects its failure to achieve objectives in the military domain. The US has imposed economic sanctions on Iran for 47 years, and such statements are now aimed at exerting psychological pressure on the Iranian people.

Mohabbi emphasized that Iran has developed plans to minimize the negative impacts of the 'economic war' and will continue economic exchanges with other countries, bypassing US restrictions. He asserted that Iran has 'no concerns' in the economic sphere, and the effectiveness of these measures will become evident soon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that Iran has never feared US sanctions, pointing out that past blockades or military actions by the US have all ended in failure. He criticized Trump's new round of 'economic actions' as merely a continuation of America's long-standing bullying policies. He believes the US has no alternative but to engage in respectful dialogue with Iran to seek fair and honorable solutions.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Pezeshkian said on the evening of the 22nd that Iran should also rationally move the country out of its current state of 'neither war nor peace.' He noted that Iran cannot rely on war indefinitely, and attracting investment is difficult under conditions of war or prolonged uncertainty.

At the same time, the US maritime blockade against Iran continues. US Central Command reported that as of August 23, US forces have directed 70 commercial vessels to alter course, rendered 3 vessels non-operational, and conducted boarding inspections on 2 vessels. The guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn is currently carrying out related operations in the Arabian Sea.
