The Taipei stock market on Friday (25th) saw memory-related stocks pause, while TSMC (2330-TW) steadily climbed during the session, driving gains in electronics subsectors such as silicon photonics and CCL, as well as financial and insurance stocks. The main index closed up 407.14 points at 45,169.46, a 0.91% gain, successfully retesting the monthly line and reclaiming the quarterly line to close above the 45,000-point mark. The intraday high-low range reached 959.15 points, but turnover was only TWD 696.055 billion, still below the TWD 700 billion threshold.

Meanwhile, the OTC index, representing small and mid-cap stocks, showed weakness during the day but rebounded in the final session, closing at 389.41, up 0.86%. Both the main exchange and OTC index closed at their intraday highs on the 25th.

In the foreign exchange market, the New Taiwan dollar closed at 31.889 against the U.S. dollar at midday, depreciating by 3.5 cents, with transaction volume at USD 685 million.

Regarding today’s market performance, senior securities analyst Jane Chien noted that the Taiwan market is clearly undergoing volume-contracted consolidation, linked to market anticipation of NVIDIA’s earnings release. Technically, indicators such as the KD and RSI values suggest the market is indeed facing correction. Investors are advised to patiently wait for a resurgence in market volume before making investment decisions.

The main market opened at 44,728.36, with an intraday low of 44,210.31 and a high of 45,169.46. It closed up 407.14 points (0.91%) at 45,169.46, its intraday high, though turnover was only TWD 696.055 billion. The electronics index rose 0.82%, accounting for 74.67% of total turnover, while the financial and insurance index surged 2.31%, representing 2.95% of total turnover.

At the close, TSMC gained TWD 25 (1.05%). Among passive component stocks, Yageo (2327-TW) closed lower, while Walsin Technology (2492-TW) rallied late to close up TWD 3 (1.13%) at TWD 268.

Lam Tsu (6213-TW), a CCL manufacturer, aggressively expanded its high-end product lines and capacity, triggering a surge of 25,700 traded lots today, closing limit-up at TWD 530. This boosted other CCL stocks such as Tontek (6672-TW), lifted TTM (6274-TW) from red to green, and pushed Taiwan Hopax (8039-TW) to close limit-up at TWD 291.5.

IC substrate stocks also rallied: Unimicron (3037-TW) rose TWD 20 to close at TWD 1,095, Kinsus (3089-TW) gained TWD 41 to TWD 835, and Nanya PCB (8046-TW) rose TWD 25 to close at TWD 1,160. All three IC substrate stocks closed in positive territory.
