NVIDIA (NVDA-US) is set to announce its financial results early Thursday, Taipei time. On Wednesday (26th), the Taiwan stock market opened lower but reversed course, closing up 663.16 points or 1.47% at 45,832.62, successfully holding above the 45,000 level after six consecutive days of intraday testing. The index reclaimed all moving averages, with daily trading value rebounding to NT$804.2 billion.
Looking at today's performance of large-cap stocks, TSMC (2330-TW) rose NT$15 or 0.6% to close at NT$2,415; MediaTek (2454-TW) surged 5.6%, Delta Electronics (2308-TW) gained 2%, while Hon Hai (2317-TW), ASE Holding (3711-TW), and others also rose in tandem.
Among high-priced stocks, Largan Precision (3008-TW) hit the upper limit, Wistron NeWeb (6669-TW) rose nearly half the limit, and PharmaEssentia (6446-TW) gained 6%, but MTS-KY (3665-TW) and Winnow (6515-TW) fell 3%, while Yageo* (2327-TW), UMC (2303-TW), and panel leaders Innolux (3481-TW) and AUO (2409-TW) closed lower.
The PCB sector sparked gains, with Lian Tech (6213-TW) hitting the upper limit, Kin Ming Electric (2368-TW) up 7%, and TPCB (2383-TW) also rising nearly half the limit. Among ABF substrate leaders, Unimicron (3037-TW) and ChipMOS (3189-TW) both rose over 5%, while Nanya PCB (8046-TW) also advanced. In the cooling sector, Jian Ce (3653-TW) hit the upper limit, and Qioptiq (3017-TW) rose nearly 7%.
Members of the broader TSMC ecosystem performed strongly: IPG Photonics (3653-TW) hit the upper limit, Caiyu (6789-TW) rose 9%, and Jingcai (3374-TW) gained 7%. Among the Formosa Plastics Group's 'Four Jewels', Nan Ya Plastics (1303-TW) hit the upper limit, Formosa Plastics (1301-TW) and Formosa Chemicals (1326-TW) rose nearly 4%, while Formosa Petrochemical (6505-TW) closed lower.
As electronics stocks rebounded, non-electronics sectors faced profit-taking. Container shipping stocks saw heavy selling pressure, with Yang Ming (2609-TW) and Wan Hai (2615-TW) down 9%, and Evergreen (2603-TW) down 6%. Far Eastern New Century (1402-TW), Taiwan Cement (1101-TW), and Ta Ching Steel (2027-TW) closed lower, while financial stocks led by Fubon Financial (2881-TW) weakened.
