Let’s take a look at today’s Taiwan stock market!
The Taiwan Weighted Index opened high and continued to climb, closing up 693.47 points at 46,551.13, with a trading volume of NT$825.627 billion.
Looking at today’s institutional investor activity, foreign investors bought a net NT$56.212 billion, investment trusts bought NT$289 million, and proprietary traders bought NT$6.37 billion. The three major institutional investors collectively bought a net NT$62.872 billion. Foreign and proprietary traders shifted from net selling to net buying, while investment trusts extended their buying streak for a second day, totaling NT$1.43 billion in net purchases.
Recent dovish signals from Federal Reserve officials have eased market concerns over rising interest rates. Combined with falling US Treasury yields, US stocks surged on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 624 points, while both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices gained over 1%. Tech stocks regained investor favor, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index also climbed, indicating a clear rebound in market risk appetite. On the individual stock front, (NVDA-US) NVIDIA’s rally boosted sentiment in AI-related stocks. AI software firm Snowflake reported earnings that beat expectations, driving its share price sharply higher. However, (AVGO-US) Broadcom’s guidance failed to fully meet market expectations, highlighting that while the long-term growth trend in the AI sector remains intact, market demands for corporate profitability and future outlook are rising. Stock performance is expected to diverge.
Today, the Taiwan stock market benefited from the broad rebound in US stocks and reduced concerns over Fed rate hikes. The Weighted Index opened and closed higher, gaining 693.47 points to close at 46,551.13, with a trading volume of NT$825.627 billion. Although today’s volume was slightly lower, the index reclaimed the 46,000-point level and the 5-day moving average. With all three major institutional investors buying, the bullish momentum is likely to continue. While the market remains near historical highs and short-term volatility may increase, margin debt decreased by approximately NT$6.9 billion yesterday, allowing short-term positions to consolidate and reducing overheating pressure. This enables bulls to regroup. Long-term AI demand remains strong. With August revenue reports rolling in and upcoming Apple product launches providing tech sector momentum, the market is expected to maintain a volatile but resilient trend, with capital rotating across sectors. Market attention now turns to tonight’s US non-farm payroll data. Cooler labor market figures could strengthen expectations of a Fed policy pivot toward easing. However, short-term risks include US-Iran tensions, rising Middle East geopolitical risks, oil price volatility, and potential global capital shifts triggered by a sharp yen appreciation.
On the large-cap front, (2330-TW) TSMC rose 0.84% to close at NT$2,410. At SEMICON Taiwan, TSMC shared its latest AI and HPC (High-Performance Computing) strategies, projecting data center power demand to increase from 5–6 GW annually (2015–2024) to 30–40 GW annually (2025–2030). AI training and inference demand continues to grow rapidly. Technologically, TSMC is enhancing AI computing and system integration through advanced processes like N2, A13, and A12, combined with HBM, SoIC, CoWoS, and CPO technologies. As the gap between AI compute speed and I/O widens, silicon photonics will become key for high-speed interconnects. The COUPE platform can boost transmission speed and bandwidth. Long-term AI demand remains highly visible.
(2317-TW) Hon Hai rose 3.43% to close at NT$256. Its Q2 2026 operations exceeded expectations, with an operating profit margin of 3.8%, above market forecasts. EPS of NT$4.24 also beat estimates. Looking ahead to the second half, AI server demand remains strong. Cloud business is expected to see clear sequential growth in Q3 2026, with AI server revenue projected for double-digit growth. NVIDIA’s new platform is expected to enter mass production by the end of 2026, with GB300 demand extending into 2027. Beyond GPU servers, ASIC and CPO networking are emerging as new growth drivers. With expansion in Taiwan, the US, and Mexico, demand for AI infrastructure continues to rise.
(2454-TW) MediaTek rose 1.73% to close at NT$4,415. NVIDIA made its first strategic investment in a Taiwanese listed company, investing $3.5 billion to subscribe to MediaTek’s overseas convertible bonds. This elevates their relationship from a technical alliance to a capital partnership. The conversion price is NT$4,513.75 per share, with maximum equity dilution limited to 1.67%. MediaTek will adopt NVIDIA’s NVLink Fusion platform to enter the cloud AI infrastructure and custom XPU markets, leveraging ASIC, SoC, advanced packaging, and high-speed SerDes technologies to help customers develop proprietary AI chips. This collaboration is expected to strengthen MediaTek’s position in the global AI supply chain and expand long-term growth potential.
Additionally, (2308-TW) Delta Electronics and (2382-TW) Quanta Computer attracted strong buying interest, quickly reviving market bullish sentiment. Capital continues to focus on growth-oriented electronics stocks.
Passive components benefited from AI server power specification upgrades and rising demand for high-end MLCCs. (3026-TW) Hosen Technology surged to its daily limit, while (2492-TW) Walsin Technology, (6173-TW) Sunlord Electronics, and (2327-TW) Yageo also performed strongly.
(4956-TW) Opto, an LED epitaxial wafer manufacturer under the broader Hon Hai group, has stable strategic alliances with Innolux’s subsidiary Qunyi Investment, holding approximately 8.10% and 7.32% of Opto’s shares, respectively. As the LED industry gradually recovers from prolonged downturns and price wars, the company’s operations have shown a clear turnaround. After turning profitable in Q4 2023, it maintained profitability in Q1 2024, reversing years of consecutive losses. Opto will continue developing high-value-added products such as automotive and specialty lighting, while actively expanding into CPO (Co-Packaged Optics) components. If demand for silicon photonics and high-speed transmission continues to grow, it could become a new growth engine.
(2388-TW) VIA Technologies, a semiconductor IC design solutions provider, focuses on integrated circuits, semiconductor memory components, related software, and data processing services. In recent years, the company has aggressively expanded into edge AI and niche applications, with improving revenue performance. Recent monthly revenue has maintained high year-on-year growth, signaling a turnaround from losses to profitability.
(3008-TW) Largan Precision and (3406-TW) Sunny Optical, key players in the high-end optical lens supply chain, are gaining market attention as Apple’s new product launch approaches. With AI servers and smartphones forming two major tech themes, combined with the US stock rebound, easing Fed policy concerns, and moderate consolidation in Taiwan stocks, these companies are expected to support continued high-level market volatility. Wistron, Largan, and Sunny Optical are now key indicators for tracking capital rotation and tech stock trends.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) reported a strong Q3 earnings, with CEO Antonio Neri stating that AI has become the core engine driving multi-year growth. Surging customer demand led to record-breaking order volumes, but also resulted in unprecedented backlogs of unshipped orders.
Major CSPs are increasing capital expenditures, and Neo Cloud is aggressively procuring AI servers, boosting not only Taiwan’s white-box server makers but also branded players like Dell and HPE. Dell raised its annual revenue forecast by 15%, with the revised revenue tripling year-on-year. Full-year EPS was revised up by 42%. HPE also raised its annual revenue growth forecast by about 5 percentage points to 13–17%, and EPS growth by about 4 percentage points to 16–20%. Taiwan’s ODM partners—(2317-TW) Hon Hai, (3231-TW) Wistron, (2356-TW) Inventec, and (2324-TW) Compal—are expected to benefit first.
On July 31, 2026, ahead of the stock futures market, (3231-TW) Wistron was identified as the biggest beneficiary of the cloud computing contract signed between Anthropic and Lambda.
(3231-TW) Wistron rose from 172 to 200, a +16% gain after the early preview.
