Former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday (14th), opposing rising demands for artificial intelligence (AI) regulation and singling out Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei for criticism. Amodei had recently issued an urgent call for the industry to slow down model development, citing potential risks AI poses to human safety.

Trump claimed that the only control or 'safety guardrail' AI requires is a 'powerful, smart, high-IQ president,' and asserted that the United States already possesses this condition 'in abundance.'

He stated that his administration has prevented AI industry figures from engaging in 'bad or potentially harmful things,' naming Amodei as an example and accusing him of now pretending to be a 'perfect little angel.' He emphasized that the U.S. government holds strong criminal and regulatory powers to constrain these AI companies and will continue taking action in the future.

The Trump administration has long encouraged rapid expansion of the U.S. AI industry and data centers, arguing that leadership in this emerging technology is vital to national survival. In response to calls for stricter regulation and slower development, Trump insisted in his post that leading AI companies are already sufficiently constrained and do not need additional rules.

Trump also claimed there is currently a 'pathological conspiracy' being orchestrated against AI and data centers, with only China standing to benefit—but he provided no concrete evidence. He stressed that 'whoever wins the AI race is the winner' and claimed the U.S. is currently ahead of China and other nations, maintaining this lead in the future.

Finally, Trump warned 'conspiracy theorists, traitors, betrayers, and leakers' to be careful. As of press time, Anthropic had not responded to requests for comment.
