Silicon IP provider M31 (6643-TW) today announced the expansion of its technology collaboration with Rambus on MIPI CSI Controller and DSI Controller solutions. This partnership will combine M31’s proven and silicon-verified MIPI PHY product line with Rambus’ controllers to deliver a comprehensive MIPI subsystem solution covering both transmission and control functions, further supporting the growing demand for high-resolution imaging and display applications.
M31 stated that by integrating key components such as MIPI CSI and DSI Controllers, it can help customers reduce verification and development risks associated with multi-vendor integration, accelerate product development and time-to-market, and further enhance the completeness and competitiveness of its MIPI interface offerings.
As demand for high-speed image and display transmission continues to rise in smartphones, automotive ADAS cameras, multi-display smart cockpits, and AI edge computing devices, MIPI has become the industry-standard interface for cameras and displays, with its application scope steadily expanding. According to industry research forecasts, the global Interface IP market is expected to reach $5.4 billion by 2029, with high-speed interfaces such as USB, PCIe, and MIPI serving as key drivers of growth in the semiconductor IP licensing market.
M31 CEO Dr. Yuan-Hsun Chang stated, "As smartphones, automotive displays, and smart cockpits evolve toward higher resolution and multiple screens, demand for integrated MIPI solutions continues to grow. Previously, customers had to source controllers externally and rely on M31 for integration. With this collaboration, customers can now confidently entrust the entire MIPI interface design to M31, reducing cross-vendor integration risks. The synergies from this integrated subsystem will further strengthen M31’s market competitiveness in the MIPI domain."
As M31’s product portfolio expands from standalone PHYs to full subsystem solutions including controllers, the average contract value for related agreements is expected to increase compared to the previous PHY-only licensing model. Overall, this one-stop solution not only enhances the contract value of MIPI-related IP design projects but also strengthens M31’s competitive advantage in the global MIPI interface IP market, aligning with its strategic focus on automotive, smartphone, and AI edge computing applications.
