TRA Teams Up with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi to Launch Pokémon Train, Operating on Western Trunk Line from Tomorrow to December 13

To promote railway tourism and inject new vitality into public transportation, Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) today (October 24) unveiled a groundbreaking cross-industry collaboration—its first-ever partnership with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store and The Pokémon Company—to launch the "Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Anniversary x Pokémon 30th Anniversary Themed Train."

TRA stated that starting tomorrow (October 25) through December 13, 2026, in addition to special weekend charter services, the themed train will be integrated into regular operations across metropolitan zones along the Western Trunk Line, scheduled as part of routine train services.

This specially wrapped train features a full-body livery design applied to TRA’s EMU800 series commuter train. The exterior showcases beloved classic Pokémon characters cherished across generations, while the interior cleverly incorporates Poké Ball motifs and adventurous elements, instantly transforming every passenger into a "Pokémon Trainer" embarking on a journey the moment they step onboard.

Wu Xin-Chang, Executive Vice President of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, remarked, "Reaching the 30th anniversary is truly remarkable. Thirty years ago, I was a middle school student who came home every day to watch Pokémon. I never imagined I’d still be following it 30 years later—it has now become an important bridge connecting me with my children, creating countless shared memories."

Wu added, "This tripartite collaboration is not coincidental but inevitable. Taipei Main Station is already a 'Pokémon hunting holy land' for many trainers. We hope everyone will board this themed train and begin their journey from Taipei."

In addition to special themed trains operated during specific periods by Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, the "Pokémon Train" will join TRA’s regular operational fleet starting tomorrow through December 13. During this period, the train will run daily across northern, central, and southern segments, linking the Western Trunk Line routes. To help railway enthusiasts and Pokémon fans plan their trips, TRA will publish the "Pokémon Train Regular Operation Schedule" on its official website and official social media channels.
