TOKYO, July 9, 2026 – Accenture K.K. (hereinafter, Accenture) today announced the expansion of its global strategic partnership with OpenAI into the Japanese market. This initiative will enable Accenture to support Japanese enterprises in realizing cross-functional business models centered on AI agents. Accenture will comprehensively transform not only business processes but also departmental roles and organizational structures, driving continuous operation and improvement to accelerate enterprise transformation.

Under this expanded collaboration, Accenture will combine its deep industry expertise, business process reengineering (BPR), and proven track record in large-scale system transformation with OpenAI’s core enterprise AI platform, 'OpenAI Frontier,' and its advanced AI agent 'Codex,' which understands complex tasks and supports end-to-end planning and execution. This integration will advance the use of AI agents beyond mere efficiency gains, enabling organization-wide transformation that delivers rapid and sustained value creation.

Accenture and OpenAI first announced their global collaboration in December 2025, aiming to help client companies integrate agent-based AI systems at the core of their operations to accelerate enterprise transformation. By combining Accenture’s industry knowledge and data & AI expertise with OpenAI’s enterprise-grade AI technologies, the two companies are jointly delivering a flagship AI program to support the shift toward AI-driven operations. Accenture is also developing AI-led enterprise solutions for key business functions—including customer service, supply chain, finance, and human resources—leveraging OpenAI’s agent development and operational technologies, with OpenAI’s support. Internally, Accenture has deployed 'ChatGPT Enterprise' and is actively promoting the acquisition of 'OpenAI Certifications' to further strengthen its world-class AI talent pool. Additionally, as a partner in OpenAI’s 'Frontier Alliances,' Accenture supports enterprises in responsibly implementing and operating AI at scale.

Building on this global collaboration, Accenture and OpenAI will now jointly drive comprehensive transformation across Japanese enterprises. In Japan, the focus will be particularly on the manufacturing and financial sectors. Through two strategic models—AI agent-driven business transformation and AI-first system development transformation—Accenture will support continuous business innovation and enhanced competitiveness across a wide range of industries.

In the manufacturing sector, Accenture will help structure knowledge—from design and development to production, operations, and even products and field sites—into AI-ready formats. This will support the advancement of design, simulation, digital twins, quality control, maintenance, robotics, and field services. The goal is to globalize Japan-originated manufacturing innovations.

In the financial sector, Accenture will go beyond individual task automation to redesign core functions of financial institutions—such as customer experience, operations, risk and compliance, and system development—natively for AI.

To support these initiatives, Accenture will help establish a unified foundation integrating data, security, risk management, governance, and change management. This will enable enterprises to safely and continuously leverage AI across their organizations.

Key Outcomes Targeted in Japan

Enhanced Productivity through Cross-Functional Business Process Redesign Centered on AI Agents Accenture will offer the 'Accenture Agentic BPR Accelerator,' a comprehensive solution that integrates the implementation expertise and BPR knowledge of Accenture’s Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) with OpenAI’s enterprise platform 'OpenAI Frontier' and the AI agent 'Codex.' This solution will drive the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of processes enabling AI agents to execute cross-departmental tasks. FDEs, embedded deeply within client operations, will define clear transformation goals based on strategic business challenges and continuously feed tacit knowledge and decision-making criteria accumulated through daily operations into the AI agents. This approach will enhance productivity through automation and intelligent task augmentation. Furthermore, by accumulating reusable business assets across the enterprise, Accenture aims to enable self-sustaining, continuous improvement in enterprise operations driven by AI agents. Accenture has already applied AI agents to non-routine, knowledge-intensive tasks—such as production management, manufacturing, and sales—in major Japanese enterprises. By leveraging accumulated operational insights, Accenture is helping clients transition to business processes that continuously improve. For some clients, this has resulted in up to a 90% reduction in operational effort compared to traditional methods.

Accelerated System Development Speed and Optimal Maintenance & Operations Models through AI Agents Accenture will provide a DevOps solution that reimagines the entire development lifecycle with AI at its core. Based on Accenture’s methodologies and industry expertise in large-scale system development and operations, this solution will redesign the full lifecycle—from planning and requirements definition to design, implementation, testing, migration, and ongoing maintenance and operations. By embedding best practices for enterprise applications and cloud platforms into Codex’s Agent Skills, Accenture will help clients establish development and operations models that continuously incorporate cutting-edge practices. Accenture has already supported multiple enterprises in preparing for production deployment, reducing the design and development time for AI agents by up to one-sixth compared to conventional timelines.

Supporting the Establishment of Consistent, Organization-Wide Cybersecurity through AI Leveraging over 20 years of cybersecurity service delivery experience and OpenAI’s advanced AI technologies, Accenture will support defensive cybersecurity operations—including vulnerability detection, risk analysis, and remediation. As a participant in OpenAI’s 'OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program,' Accenture will use GPT-5.5 via 'Trusted Access for Cyber' to integrate OpenAI’s key models—optimized for defensive cybersecurity—into its own security services. Through its security products and services, Accenture will help clients strengthen software resilience, enhance security operations, and implement AI-powered security features. Additionally, Accenture will help enterprises establish risk management, control, and operational processes to safely leverage AI agents and generative AI, enabling trusted AI adoption and strengthening the organization’s overall cybersecurity posture.

It should be noted that realizing these self-evolving systems requires the systematic structuring of enterprise-specific operations and data. Accenture will deeply understand each client’s business structure and decision-making context, integrating fragmented data and processes across departments and systems.
