Perception of Staff Uniforms and Hygiene in Cafes and Restaurants
What criteria do you use when choosing a cafe or restaurant? While food quality, atmosphere, and location are important, many people also pay attention to the cleanliness of the staff. Specifically, the condition of uniforms is often directly linked to trust in the establishment's overall hygiene management. To explore this, a survey was conducted with 500 men and women nationwide.
58.6% Consider Staff Cleanliness when Choosing a Restaurant When asked if they consider "staff cleanliness" when choosing a place to eat, 58.6% answered they do so "very much" or "somewhat," indicating it is a key decision-making factor for more than half of consumers.
65.0% Feel "Anxious" about Hygiene upon Seeing Dirty or Worn-out Uniforms When asked if they feel anxious about the hygiene of the food and beverages when noticing dirty or worn-out uniforms, 65.0% responded that they feel "very" or "somewhat" anxious. Respondents noted that such conditions suggest poor management or unsanitary conditions in invisible areas.
73.0% Believe Uniform Cleanliness Affects "Trust and Peace of Mind" A total of 73.0% responded that uniform cleanliness "influences" their sense of trust and peace of mind toward the restaurant. Specific positive impacts cited included: "indicates solid hygiene management" (64.9%), "feel safe eating there" (63.8%), and "improves the store's overall impression" (59.5%).
"Lack of Stains" is the Primary Standard for Cleanliness at 62.2% When asked about essential elements for uniform cleanliness, "lack of stains" was the most cited at 62.2%, followed by "not worn out" (40.0%) and "no unpleasant odors" (36.6%).
