[toreluna Survey] About 2 out of 3 women have struggled with menstrual pain while out due to a lack of pain medication

toreluna, operated by Nextino, provides free menstrual products in restroom stalls while also utilizing those spaces as advertising and promotional media. The company recently conducted a survey on the realities of managing menstrual pain while out, involving 2,128 toreluna users.

The survey revealed that 69.4% of respondents use over-the-counter pain medication for menstrual pain, highlighting its widespread use as a coping mechanism.

Conversely, 66.5% of respondents answered that they have had the experience of being in trouble because they did not have pain medication on hand while out, meaning about two out of three women have struggled in such situations. When asked how they respond when pain medication is needed, 72.0% indicated they purchase it at a nearby drugstore or pharmacy, showing that many deal with pain by buying medication on the spot.

Furthermore, 47.6% of respondents answered that they have thought about or decided whether to take pain medication while in a restroom stall. Combined with the characteristic of being a place to 'think about health and the body' found in a previous survey, this indicates that restroom stalls serve as spaces where individuals face their physical condition and consider subsequent countermeasures.

[Survey Highlights] 1. 'Menstrual pain (abdominal pain, headache, etc.)' is the top concern at 55.9%. 2. About 70% use over-the-counter pain medication for menstrual pain. 3. The most common timing for taking medication is 'when I start feeling pain' at 59.0%. 4. About 2 out of 3 have struggled while out due to a lack of medication. 5. When medication is needed, the most common response is to 'buy it nearby.' 6. Restroom stalls function as a 'place to face one's physical condition.'

These results reaffirm that menstrual pain is a common concern and that over-the-counter medication is an important coping tool. Furthermore, it suggests that restroom stalls act as hubs for health management during unexpected situations while out.
