Nihonichi Sakaisuji-Hommachi, operated by N・I Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka / President: Norio Kawamura), will launch a limited-time fair starting June 15, 2026, featuring bluefin tuna acquired through auction at Gounoura Fishing Port on Iki Island, Nagasaki Prefecture.

This delivery includes two large bluefin tuna weighing 123kg and 139kg, totaling 262kg. The tuna, purchased directly at the local auction, will be shipped straight to Osaka and served for a limited period.

Direct shipment from Gounoura Fishing Port, Iki Island

Auction scene

These bluefin tuna were landed at Gounoura Fishing Port on Iki Island, Nagasaki Prefecture.

Surrounded by the Tsushima Current, the waters around Iki Island are known as a rich fishing ground attracting abundant marine life. While many fish are available at the local auction, the company successfully secured two large tuna weighing 123kg and 139kg. The purchased tuna will be delivered directly to Osaka.

123kg tuna

A key feature of this fair is the whole-tuna purchase. While restaurants typically source pre-cut portions, buying entire tuna allows the restaurant to offer a wide variety of authentic cuts.

Alongside the rich flavor of akami, the balanced fat of chutoro, and the melt-in-the-mouth otoro, rare cuts such as brain (nottensu), cheek meat (hoho-niku), and collar toro (kama-toro) will be available in limited quantities. Experiencing the distinct characteristics of each cut is a unique advantage of whole-tuna procurement.

Showcasing bluefin tuna through diverse dishes

Upon arrival at the restaurant, skilled chefs will carefully butcher the tuna in-house and serve each cut appropriately.

Dishes include sashimi, sushi, and comparative tasting platters, allowing guests to fully appreciate the premium quality of these large tuna. Enjoy the exceptional texture and unique profiles of each cut. This limited-time event offers a rare chance to taste Iki Island-caught bluefin tuna in Osaka—don’t miss it.
