Nichii Gakkan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazunori Koshi) expresses its deepest condolences to all those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.
Following the earthquake on July 28, the company immediately established a disaster response headquarters at its Kyushu branch, prioritizing the safety and well-being of affected communities, as well as its employees and their families.
1. Recovery Efforts by Nichii Gakkan
Immediately after the earthquake on the evening of July 28, three of the company-operated pharmacies were forced to temporarily suspend operations due to damage. To ensure rapid recovery, Nichii Gakkan dispatched over ten employees from within and outside the branch, focusing on restoring pharmacy services for patients in urgent need of medication. As a result, limited prescription dispensing resumed the following day on July 29. Full regular operations were restored by September 1.
The company will continue to monitor local conditions closely and provide optimal support to the affected communities.
2. Donation and Internal Fundraising
The Nichii Gakkan Group has donated 10 million yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society as relief support for those affected by the disaster.
In parallel, the company has launched an internal fundraising campaign among its executives and employees. This campaign adopts a matching gift program, in which the company will contribute an amount equal to the total collected from employees, demonstrating group-wide solidarity in relief efforts.
Nichii Gakkan once again extends its heartfelt sympathies to all affected individuals. The company deeply respects those working tirelessly on recovery, medical care, and support in the disaster zone, and sincerely prays for a swift recovery. Guided by its mission of "engaging with every individual’s will to live," Nichii Gakkan Group, as a key supporter of regional healthcare, will continue its efforts to ensure stable pharmaceutical supply and ongoing support in the affected areas.
