NIJIN Academy, an alternative school operated by NIJIN Inc., has launched the 'NIJIN Academy Project School Musashishinjo' at its real-world facility in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City, which opened in April 2026.
NIJIN Academy Musashishinjo was established in April 2026 as a safe space for children who need alternatives to traditional schooling to learn at their own pace and connect with the community during the day.
The newly launched project school operates after school hours at the same Musashishinjo campus. It is an inquiry-based project school for elementary, junior high, and high school students. Students spend their afternoons turning their interests into actual projects, connecting with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and various professionals.
The Candy Store is just the Entrance
A key feature of the Musashishinjo school is the candy store at the entrance. While it is a fun, familiar place for children, the activities go far beyond candy: - Brainstorming products - Creating plans - Pitching to adults - Interviewing local business owners - Communicating their work - Reflecting and strategizing the next steps Through these processes, students think beyond 'what to make' and consider 'for whom' and 'what value they can deliver.'
Turning your 'Want to do' into Strength for Society
The school aims to ensure that children's interests do not end as mere experiences. By collaborating with adults, local people, and peers, these challenges broaden the children's 'future options.'
A Learning Space for Your Own Projects
This is not a traditional 'juku' (cram school) nor a typical extracurricular lesson. There is no fixed curriculum. The starting point is each child's interest and idea. The program nurtures planning, expression, communication, problem-finding, and value-delivery skills.
