The Nippon Foundation, alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IOC-UNESCO, will host the inaugural Island States Ocean Summit. Around 300 participants, including leaders from 30 island nations, will address issues like sea-level rise and marine pollution. Co-chaired by Palau's President Surangel Whipps Jr., the summit aims to create Sustainable Ocean Planning and Management (SOPM) strategies. The results will influence global discussions at upcoming COP17 and COP31.
