NISSHA Zonnebodo Pharma Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hachioji, Tokyo; President: Toshiyuki Yasui) has announced the commencement of construction for a new production facility (hereinafter "the new production building") at its Hachioji factory (Hachioji, Tokyo) to expand its manufacturing capacity for pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing (CDMO).

Background of the Construction

In recent years, the instability of pharmaceutical supply has become a societal issue. The company believes that ensuring a stable supply of high-quality pharmaceuticals is a basic social responsibility of a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Meanwhile, the NISSHA Group has declared in its sustainability vision (long-term vision) that it aims for 50% of its consolidated net sales to come from the medical market by 2030. As part of this effort, the company is planning business expansion into new fields.

To date, the company has primarily focused on the manufacturing and sales of its own brand products. Moving forward, in addition to maintaining the quality management system and stable supply of its own products, the company plans to enter the CDMO business in full scale to provide pharmaceuticals across a wider range of fields. To accommodate this, the company decided to construct the new production building.

Features and Future Outlook

The 4-story new production building will be equipped with facilities to cover all manufacturing processes for the medical pharmaceuticals the company currently produces. In addition to further improving production efficiency, the new facility will be equipped with production equipment tailored to meet the wide-ranging needs of customers in the CDMO business.

Production at the new building is scheduled to begin around November 2027. Going forward, the company intends to contribute to society by providing valuable pharmaceuticals through its CDMO business and accelerate its growth.
