The NoMaps Executive Committee announced that its urban festival 'NoMaps,' held in Sapporo, Hokkaido, has received the 'Regional Community Award' at the 'Peatix Community Awards 2026.'
This award program, hosted by the event and community platform 'Peatix,' aims to spotlight diverse community activities and communicate their value and potential to society. In its second year, the awards drew over 250 entries from across Japan, with 33 communities selected across 11 categories.
Judging was based on five criteria: 'Connection,' 'Encounter and Discovery,' 'Empowerment,' 'Diversity,' and 'Operational Ingenuity.' NoMaps was chosen for the 'Regional Community Award,' which honors communities rooted in a specific area and dedicated to regional revitalization and collaboration. The festival was highly praised for its initiatives in forming communities and fostering co-creation among diverse players including corporations, government bodies, creators, and citizens.
The award ceremony and reception were held on May 27, 2026, at the SCC Sendagaya Community Center in Tokyo.
NoMaps is a festival that brings together ambitious individuals from tech, entertainment, and creative fields in Sapporo and Hokkaido to make the world more interesting and better. Its missions include vitalizing creative industries, supporting entrepreneurship, promoting investment, fostering a creative civic culture, and enhancing the international appeal of Sapporo and Hokkaido. In 2025, the festival held events at 86 venues in central Sapporo, attracting over 58,000 attendees.
'NoMaps 2026' is scheduled to take place from September 23 to 27, 2026, in central Sapporo.
