[NOHGA HOTEL KIYOMIZU KYOTO] Project to Create 10 Types of Guest Room Mugs with the Theme "Unconventional Kyoto"

NOHGA HOTEL KIYOMIZU KYOTO (hereinafter "NOHGA HOTEL Kyoto"), operated by Nomura Real Estate Hotels Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo / President: Kosuke Hiraishi, hereinafter "the Company"), has commissioned 9 ceramic artists and 1 pottery studio active in the region to create mugs with the theme "Unconventional Kyoto" as an initiative to widely promote the current appeal of Kyo-yaki. The completed works were installed in guest rooms starting July 1, 2026 (Wed).

Under the hotel theme "Recreating KYOTO: Encountering an Unconventional Kyoto," NOHGA HOTEL Kyoto offers unique experiences related to the brand keywords "Music, Art, and Food" while valuing connections with the local community.

This time, we have produced mugs for guest rooms with the aim of widely promoting the "present-day" appeal of Kyo-yaki, one of Kyoto's traditional crafts, and supporting the activities of local ceramic artists and studios. For this project, we commissioned 9 artists and 1 pottery studio to create works with the theme "Unconventional Kyoto," allowing guests to enjoy Kyo-yaki that challenges new expressions while rooted in tradition during their stay. A diverse and individualistic collection of mugs has been completed. These cups have been installed in guest rooms since July 1, 2026 (Wed).

They add further color to the interior, which subtly incorporates Kyoto's traditional crafts, such as cabinets using the Nishijin-ori weaving technique "Hikinuki" (引箔) and Kyo-yaki lampshades already installed in the guest rooms.
