Niigata University of Food and Agriculture Futsal Team Wins First Tournament

The futsal team of Niigata University of Food and Agriculture (Tainai City), part of the NSG Group and established as an intensive activity club in the spring of 2025, won the '22nd All Japan University Futsal Tournament Niigata Prefecture Round' held at the Nagaoka City Mishima Gymnasium on Saturday, May 16, in their first-ever tournament appearance.

Only two months since its founding, the team achieved the feat of reaching the top of Niigata Prefecture in their first official competition.

The tournament was held in a round-robin group league format with three teams, and the university futsal team achieved two consecutive wins.

In the first match, they won a close game against the experienced Niigata University of Health and Welfare, and in the second match, they defeated Niigata University with a clean sheet, demonstrating a high level of completeness in both offense and defense.

The university futsal team is a new group established this spring. Centered on experienced futsal and soccer players, they began activities with the goal of becoming a 'nationally competitive team' and have already secured a prefectural title in their first year.

Going forward, they will represent Niigata Prefecture at the Hokushinetsu Regional Tournament to be held on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, aiming to reach the national tournament in their first year.
