Students from the Video and Film Creation Department at Kokusai Art & Design University of Technology (Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture), part of the NSG Group's Kokusai Sogo Gakuen, challenged an industry-academia collaboration project to produce a terrestrial TV commercial (15 seconds) for Fukushima Television Co., Ltd.'s (hereinafter referred to as Fukushima TV) music event "MUSIC TIME LIVE."
Aspiring video industry students, facing the rigorous perspectives of professionals, thoroughly pursued "communicative video expression" to convey the event's appeal within a limited timeframe. The top-winning work, selected after a strict screening process, was broadcast on terrestrial television in Fukushima Prefecture starting June 8, 2026 (Mon).
This project, where students aiming to become future video creators tackled the professional field of actual TV commercial production in a regional setting, became an industry-academia initiative to foster new creative talent from Fukushima.
1 Background: The "Power to Communicate" Needed in the SNS Era and Nurturing Fukushima's Young Talent
With the rapid spread of video distribution services and social media, the importance of video production and video marketing is increasing year by year, even in regional areas. On the other hand, to succeed in the video industry, not only shooting and editing skills but also planning and expressive abilities are required to consider "to whom, what, and how to deliver."
At Kokusai Art & Design University of Technology, we promote practical education that allows students to acquire the creative skills demanded by society by engaging with actual companies and communities, rather than just learning techniques within the school. This time, with the full cooperation of Fukushima TV, a leading broadcaster in Fukushima, students challenged themselves to produce videos that convey the appeal of a regional event while learning professional perspectives.
1 Practical Project to Experience the Professional Field
The target of the production was the terrestrial TV commercial for the music event "MUSIC TIME LIVE," held on June 20, 2026 (Sat) at the Koriyama Station West Exit Station Square.
To kick off the project, event producers and directors from Fukushima TV were invited to our school on April 21, 2026, for a special lecture. From professionals active on the front lines, students learned essential concepts for actual production, such as "video expression that reaches viewers," "composition that conveys appeal in a limited time," and "the mindset required for production as a director."
Following this, second-year students from the Video and Film Creation Department divided into teams and began CM production.
Utilizing provided video materials, logos, and more, students went through trial and error themselves in planning, shooting, editing, and directing to convey the event's appeal in the short span of 15 seconds.
1 Student Work Broadcast as Actual TV Commercial
On May 13, a critique and screening session was held at Fukushima TV's premises. As a result of a strict selection process by professionals with sharp insights, one work with the most outstanding direction and message was officially chosen for broadcast. The selected work was aired on terrestrial television in Fukushima Prefecture from June 8, 2026.
The experience of seeing their own produced videos actually broadcast on TV in Fukushima Prefecture became a significant growth opportunity for students aiming to become video creators.
Feedback from participating students included, "I felt a great sense of accomplishment seeing our video broadcast on TV. It's an experience that has given me confidence for my future career in video production."
Future Outlook: Creators Connecting the Region and the Future from Fukushima
Kokusai Art & Design University of Technology will continue to provide learning that leads to immediate employability in the real world through strong collaboration with regional media and local companies. As an environment for specialized video production studies within Fukushima Prefecture, we aim to foster the next generation of video creators capable of handling shooting, editing, planning, and distribution in cooperation with regional companies and media.
