On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Niigata Institute of Technology (NIT), part of the NSG Group, held a presentation ceremony to deliver a wooden deck and custom furniture (storage shelves and bookcases) crafted by students in the Carpentry & Renovation Department as part of their practical training, to NSG International Kindergarten Furumachi.
NIT's Carpentry & Renovation Department incorporates hands-on training projects based on real client requests, allowing students to develop on-site skills while mastering technical expertise. For this project, second-year students undertook the construction of a wooden deck in response to a request from NSG International Kindergarten Furumachi.
The kindergarten also requested custom storage shelves and bookcases, which were designed and built by a group of volunteer students. Keeping in mind actual use by young children, the furniture features rounded corners for safety and designs that prevent dust accumulation, reflecting careful attention to detail.
Students experienced the entire process from design to construction, and delivered the completed wooden deck and custom furniture to the kindergarten—the client—during the presentation ceremony. Students involved in the project and their supervising faculty attended the event, handing over the creations in the space where children will use them.
