Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate Co., Ltd. (HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Masahiro Miwa) and the Metropolitan Fireproof Building Corporation (HQ: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Kenro Fujiwara) announced that the 'Takanawa Building Condominium Redevelopment Project,' in which they participate as members, received approval for its rights conversion plan from Minato-ku, Tokyo, on May 8, 2026. The project, which passed a redevelopment resolution in February 2024 and received approval for the establishment of a redevelopment association in October 2024, plans to construct an 18-story condominium. The Takanawa Building, a 12-story SRC mixed-use building completed in 1967, faced issues including aging, seismic deficiencies, and complex ownership rights. The project adopts a scheme to integrate the leasehold condominium with adjacent land and convert it into a freehold condominium. Additionally, it contributes to the community by installing manhole toilets and disaster prevention warehouses for use during emergencies, as well as improving pedestrian spaces. Completion is scheduled for February 2032, with a planned total of 103 units.
