Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Masahiro Miwa) is pleased to announce its participation in the 'KAWASAKI NATURE LOOP Global Platform' (hereinafter referred to as 'the Platform'), established by Kawasaki City on July 8, 2026.

The Platform is a new framework that collaborates with 19 companies, including global corporations located within the city, to create a sustainable positive cycle where nature and the city grow together.

About the KAWASAKI NATURE LOOP Global Platform

Stable socioeconomic development requires mitigating the risks of climate change. Alongside decarbonization and resource circulation, there is a growing global interest in leveraging the functions of natural ecosystems to solve societal challenges. In its 'Greenery Vision for the Next 100 Years,' Kawasaki City aims to address regional and global environmental issues, including nature-positive initiatives and climate change adaptation.

Amidst the global advancement of ESG investment (*1), companies are increasingly disclosing nature-related information. In light of this trend, Kawasaki City is establishing a new framework, the first of its kind in Japan (*2), in collaboration with 19 companies, including global corporations located within the city, that have endorsed its founding principles. This framework will focus on discussions regarding the evaluation of greenery and biodiversity. Kawasaki City will also be the first municipality to take on the challenge of visualizing greenery and biodiversity to drive initiatives that create a globally recognized positive cycle through this Platform. The city aims to foster the development of comprehensive initiatives where diverse stakeholders, including citizens, companies, organizations, universities, and financial institutions, can actively participate.

Our company will participate in the Platform with the aim of leveraging our expertise in urban development that considers greenery and biodiversity, and through discussions and information exchange with participants, to promote initiatives for addressing climate change and societal challenges.

*1 ESG Investment: Investment that considers ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) non-financial information. *2 According to Kawasaki City's research.

[Comments from Advisors]

Mr. Manabu Haraguchi, Fellow, MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings

As global environmental issues become more severe, there are limits to large-scale infrastructure development as a countermeasure, making the power of greenery crucial and increasingly discussed internationally. The initiative of companies gathering to collectively manage these efforts is globally advanced and groundbreaking. I expect the Kawasaki model to become a global model.

[Comments from Companies]

Mr. Kenji Nakajima, Executive Officer (General Manager, Power Plant Siting and Environmental Survey Division), JERA Co., Inc.

With the rapid increase in interest in nature-positive outcomes, we are grateful for this opportunity as a company. Through this Platform, our company will contribute to visualizing greenery and biodiversity by cooperating with surveys, and we hope to contribute even in a small way to nature-positive initiatives. We expect this initiative to spread nationwide.

Mr. Katsuya Takinami, General Manager, Environmental Promotion Office, Process Reform Division, Toshiba Corporation

We are also working in collaboration with the region on ecosystem considerations and nature conservation. In this context, we are deeply honored to participate in this Platform in Kawasaki City. As there are limitations for companies acting alone, we look forward to this becoming a practical field for public-private collaboration, referencing specialized knowledge, and we will participate as a member.
