Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture) operates an exchange program leveraging its network with 196 partner universities across 63 countries worldwide. In June 2026, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of International Studies successfully completed approximately nine months of exchange study at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), a world-renowned institution. During the program, the student took specialized courses along with diverse language classes, acquiring practical competencies required in the global arena. The student had previously participated in overseas internships, international volunteering, short-term study programs, and a study tour in South Korea, cultivating a global perspective through the university’s step-by-step international education program.

Practical Learning Combining Business and Language

At CUHK, in addition to business courses, a wide range of language courses—including English, Chinese, and Korean—are offered, enabling broad academic engagement. Classes emphasize practical learning through group work, presentations, fieldwork, and essay writing. Collaborating with students from around the world helped develop intercultural understanding, international communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Under the exchange agreement, tuition fees at the host university are waived. Additionally, Nagoya University of Commerce & Business offers its own overseas study scholarship program to reduce students’ financial burden. The student also received a scholarship under the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)’s Overseas Study Support Program (Degree-Seeking Students), minimizing financial strain and enabling a secure, long-term study abroad experience.

Student Testimonial (Fourth-Year, Faculty of International Studies)

"Before studying abroad, I felt anxious, but the value I gained exceeded my expectations. In class, I engaged in discussions and group work with students from around the world, encountering diverse values and learning to think from perspectives different from my own. I also became more conscious of expressing my opinions without fear of failure, and I feel my language proficiency, initiative, and confidence in communication have grown significantly. I aim to continue learning, respect different cultures and values, and become a professional who can thrive in international environments."

International Education Supporting Global Learning

Nagoya University of Commerce & Business recognizes academic credits earned at overseas partner institutions toward graduation requirements, allowing students to take specialized courses alongside local students. Moreover, the “Global BBA” program, which enables degree completion entirely in English, is open to students from other faculties. This creates a seamless academic pathway for students to study business in English before transitioning to specialized education at overseas universities. In addition to exchange and dual-degree programs, the university offers diverse overseas programs such as language study, international volunteering, gap-year programs, and overseas internships. The university provides tailored support—including scholarships and pre-departure training—to ensure students can confidently pursue international experiences at every stage of their development. Moving forward, the university will continue cultivating globally competent talent capable of proactively contributing in international settings.
