SK Telecom and NVIDIA to Build AI Infrastructure Driving South Korea’s AI Innovation

SEOUL, South Korea — June 8, 2026 — NVIDIA and SK Telecom announced today that SK Telecom plans to use the NVIDIA DSX™ platform to build a gigawatt-scale AI cloud in South Korea, with the first AI factory scheduled to launch in 2027.

An AI cloud is large-scale AI infrastructure composed of AI factories that generate tokens, the building blocks of intelligence, from data. Unlike traditional hyperscalers providing general-purpose cloud services, this AI cloud is specialized for GPU-based cloud computing customized for AI workloads across training, inference, and agentic AI.

SK Telecom’s AI cloud is built on the NVIDIA DSX full-stack reference architecture, consisting of software, hardware, and operations, designed to maximize energy efficiency while generating tokens at the lowest cost.

SK Telecom’s AI cloud will enhance training, inference, and agentic workloads for sovereign AI, physical AI, and enterprise AI services across South Korean industries, with plans to expand to a wider region in Asia in the future.

This initiative reflects South Korea’s role as one of the world’s most advanced AI-driven industrial economies. South Korean firms lead in telecommunications, memory, semiconductors, manufacturing, robotics, mobility, and consumer technology—industries where AI is moving from research labs and chatbots into secure, production-grade deployments.
