Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. and Odakyu Resorts Co., Ltd. have begun development of an independent villa-style hotel in Hakone Gora, aiming for an opening around spring 2028. This project, themed as a 'villa standing in the forest,' utilizes the natural terrain of Gora to arrange each unit independently, creating a highly private space. By combining Japanese architectural styles with hot springs, it aims to offer an experience that reflects the changing seasons and Japanese culture. The site is located adjacent to the 'Hakone Yutowa' hotel operated by Odakyu Resorts. Hakone Gora has a history of being developed as a hot spring villa area by the Odawara Electric Railway, the roots of the Odakyu Group's business in the Hakone area, and still retains rich forests and undulating terrain. On a vast site exceeding 12,000 square meters, 18 independent villas will be scattered. The buildings are inspired by Sukiya-zukuri architecture, incorporating Japanese elements such as tatami mats, shoji screens, and earthen walls. By piping hot spring water from the site into each unit, guests can enjoy private, free-flowing hot springs, with some units featuring semi-open-air baths. The rooms accommodate 2 to 6 guests and include kitchenettes to support long-term stays.
