APC Inc. (Headquarters: Oita City, Oita Prefecture, Representative Director: Eisuke Sato, hereinafter referred to as APC) has partnered with the Department of Technology Education, Graduate School of Education, Kumamoto University, to commence "Experiential AI Literacy Education" classes at the Junior High School Attached to the Faculty of Education, Kumamoto University (Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture) starting June 22, 2026.

We also announce that an "Open Class" will be held on July 10, 2026 (Fri.) to share the results of this class with educators and members of the press.

Background and Objectives of This Initiative

Currently, with the rapid spread of AI in educational settings, the importance of "AI literacy education" is increasing. This goes beyond simply "using" AI to correctly understanding its "mechanisms" and utilizing it proactively with critical thinking. Against this backdrop, APC will combine its AI technology know-how and AI teaching materials with the academic knowledge and teaching methods of the Kumamoto University Faculty of Education to jointly develop AI literacy teaching materials that align with the "Information Technology" learning objectives in the junior high school "Technology and Home Economics (Technology Field)" curriculum guidelines.

Outline of "AI Literacy Open Class" for Junior High School Students

Classes, arranged by graduate students from the Kumamoto University Faculty of Education based on "AI Minerva Novice Edition," are being held at the Junior High School Attached to the Faculty of Education, Kumamoto University.

An open class will be held on July 10 (Fri.), the final day of the class, allowing participants to observe the actual class in session. We look forward to the participation of educators and members of the press interested in the introduction of AI in educational settings and concrete examples of next-generation IT education.

Furthermore, we aim to promote AI education in junior high schools nationwide by packaging it as an "AI Literacy Education Course Based on Understanding "Information Technology" for Junior High Schools" so that it can be implemented in any region across the country.
