Regional Collaboration Project with Okinawa City: Exchange Activities Held with Okinawa Prefectural Misaki Special Needs School

Okinawa Arena Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Okinawa Basketball Co., Ltd., as part of a regional collaboration project with Okinawa City, welcomed students from Okinawa Prefectural Misaki Special Needs School to Okinawa Arena on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, for exchange activities.

This initiative aims to provide special experiences for children and their families by engaging them in sports exchange activities utilizing the Okinawa Arena, alongside Ryukyu Golden Kings players, coaches, and mascot "Gordy," targeting children at therapeutic facilities and special needs schools, while also fostering continuous relationships with the community.

On the day, 44 high school students from Okinawa Prefectural Misaki Special Needs School, along with their teachers and staff, participated. In the exchange program, Ryukyu Golden Kings player Morihisa Yamauchi, Player Development Coach Tsubasa Yonamine, and Gordy participated, enjoying interaction and communication through basketball.

The participating students spent a time filled with smiles through passing and shooting experiences with the players and coaches, and interaction with Gordy, filling the entire venue with a warm atmosphere.

Okinawa Arena Co., Ltd. is working to utilize Okinawa Arena not only as a venue for watching sports and holding events, but also as an "arena open to the community" where local residents can easily gather and interact.

Moving forward, we will continue to provide new experiences and opportunities for interaction for children and the local community by collaborating with Okinawa City and Okinawa Basketball Co., Ltd. to carry out ongoing community exchange activities through sports, and promote the development of an arena rooted in the community.
