Oizumi Factory Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, Representative Director: Kantaro Oizumi, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") will introduce the resource recycling service "PASSTO" (pronounced "Past") developed by ECOMMIT Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Representative Director & CEO: Teruyuki Kawano, hereinafter referred to as "ECOMMIT") at "WAREHOUSE" within its head office premises "OKS CAMPUS".

Under its purpose of "Filling the Earth with Smiles" and its vision of "Creating a Wonderful Environment," Oizumi Factory aims to realize a sustainable society where people and nature coexist harmoniously, developing businesses centered on environmental consideration and wellness.

As part of these efforts, the Company will switch from the reuse boxes previously installed on its premises to "PASSTO." In addition to clothing, bags, fashion accessories, and hobby items will also be collected, aiming to create a hub where local residents can more easily participate in resource recycling in their daily lives.

The Company has been utilizing "WAREHOUSE," a community space within its head office premises "OKS CAMPUS" that was formerly a factory, installing original reuse boxes that have been used by many people, including local residents and those who resonate with the Company's philosophy.

However, during its operation, challenges arose, such as the inclusion of items not eligible for collection and the internal resources required for sorting and shipping collected items. The Company also recognized the need to create a system that could more clearly communicate how the collected items were being utilized.

To solve these issues and evolve into a recycling system that more people can participate in with peace of mind, the Company decided to introduce "PASSTO," which has an established system for collection, sorting, and redistribution, and clear post-collection traceability.

What will be realized by introducing the "PASSTO" unwanted item collection service:

"PASSTO" is a recycling system service that handles everything from sorting to redistribution (reuse/recycling) domestically and internationally simply by customers dropping off unwanted clothing, bags, fashion accessories, hobby items, etc., into a dedicated box. This introduction will alleviate the burden of sorting and processing that the Company has faced, and switch to a system with a clearer flow after collection.

By expanding the collection targets to include items other than clothing, which were difficult to handle with the previously installed reuse boxes, the service will enhance user convenience and evolve into a highly transparent eco-activity where collected items are reliably recycled into new resources.

Through this initiative, Oizumi Factory will connect usable items to the future together with visitors to "OKS CAMPUS" and local residents, expanding activities to "Create a Wonderful Environment" from a familiar place.

Comment from Oizumi Factory Co., Ltd.

"We are delighted to introduce ECOMMIT's advanced collection and recycling infrastructure, "PASSTO," at "WAREHOUSE" within "OKS CAMPUS," as part of our efforts to realize our vision of "Creating a Wonderful Environment" under our purpose of "Filling the Earth with Smiles." Previously, our in-house clothing collection faced challenges with the effort required for sorting and the lack of clarity regarding the items' subsequent destinations. This introduction not only addresses these issues but also expands our collection targets to include bags, accessories, and hobby items, which were difficult to handle before.

Our head office premises, "OKS CAMPUS," is a space open to the community, and we aspire to be a place that offers positive insights and inspiration for people and the environment to visitors. We have already implemented various initiatives, such as operating on 100% renewable energy and composting residues from our plant-based cafe and kombucha brewery for use in our own farm.

Moving forward, we aim to build a new form of resource recycling that local residents can enjoy participating in, while also considering collaborative projects and events with ECOMMIT through this space."

Kantaro Oizumi Representative Director and President Oizumi Factory Co., Ltd.

Comment from ECOMMIT Co., Ltd.

"We are deeply honored that Oizumi Factory, which upholds the wonderful mission of "Filling the Earth with Smiles" and practices advanced resource recycling in the food and agriculture sectors, will be introducing "PASSTO," our recycling infrastructure for collection and redistribution.

ECOMMIT's vision is to "Realize a Society Without Waste," and we are committed to creating systems that bring discarded items back to life.

While Oizumi Factory has been involved in in-house clothing collection, the introduction of PASSTO expands the collection targets to "miscellaneous goods." This will create a more accessible and convenient recycling hub for local residents. We are confident that the synergy between the community power of "OKS CAMPUS," a former foundry that is now a beloved open space for the community, and our infrastructure will lead to new initiatives where people can enjoy participating in resource recycling, including in-person collection events and used clothing sales.

We are deeply excited to take this step forward with Oizumi Factory towards the revitalization of Kawaguchi City and the creation of a sustainable future."

Satoshi Ishino Executive Officer, Head of Collection Platform Development Division ECOMMIT Co., Ltd.

Future Developments and Initiatives

Moving forward, we plan to visualize environmental contribution data (such as CO2 reduction contributions) based on the volume of collected items and share it regularly through our official website and social media. We will also consider event planning that allows visitors to "OKS CAMPUS" to enjoy participating in resource recycling, in collaboration with ECOMMIT.

Through the community-open space of "OKS CAMPUS," we will promote initiatives to "Create a Wonderful Environment" not only through our own environmental activities but also together with consumers who share the same vision, local residents, and partner companies.
