Imazato Family Residence

Tōrō Ningyō Float

In fiscal years Reiwa 5 and Reiwa 7, laser scanning of large wooden structures—including the former Yabe District Office, the city-designated cultural property 'Imazato Family Residence,' and the nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property 'Yamefukushima Tōrō Ningyō' float—was conducted as part of a graduate course at Kyushu University.

As a result, the deepest structural elements of the buildings, such as roof framing, invisible to the naked eye or conventional photography, have been revealed. These findings will be presented through panel displays and video screenings.

Explanations of the historical context of each building will also be provided, offering visitors insights into the lives and culture of the people of Yame during those times.

No prior registration or admission fee is required. Everyone is welcome to visit.
