Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Makoto Inoue) has established the 'Heatstroke Prevention Consortium' on June 5, in partnership with the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), the Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency (ERCA), and various private sector companies and organizations.

With the social mission of protecting lives and health, this consortium aims to reduce the risk of heatstroke, which is intensifying due to climate change. Based on its research findings on water and electrolyte replenishment and over 30 years of expertise in heatstroke prevention, Otsuka Pharmaceutical will provide recommendations to facilitate the social implementation of more effective preventive measures.

Background and Role In recent years, summers have become increasingly severe due to climate change, making heatstroke risk a challenge for society as a whole. The consortium acts as a driving force to connect government, research institutions, and private enterprises to accelerate the social implementation of practical countermeasures.
