[Azamino Citizens Gallery] Enjoying Life for Two Days: "Sign Language Everywhere Day - Market Open to Living" to be Held

On June 6 (Sat) and 7 (Sun), 2026, the Azamino Citizens Gallery in Aoba Ward will collaborate with the locally renowned "Meme Gashi Kobo" to host the "Sign Language Everywhere Day - Market Open to Living" event.

Individualized goods, everyday meals, and snacks will be sold outdoors and in the lobby. Visitors can also enjoy workshops and sign language storytelling in the atelier and lounge. The event aims to create a place where anyone can drop in and interact naturally through diverse communication methods like sign language, writing, and gestures, allowing people to experience an 'open life' connected through culture.

"Meme Gashi Kobo," located in Kakinokidai, Aoba Ward, expresses a unique worldview based on the concept of "exciting sweets for eyes and hands," infused with the essence of sign language. Owner and deaf artisan Hosana Ito carefully handcrafts seasonal Western and Japanese sweets using locally sourced or domestic ingredients that children can eat with peace of mind.

At the market, a wide variety of shops from across the country will gather, offering items such as coffee, tacos, Taiwanese braised pork rice (Lu Rou Fan), baked goods, Japanese sweets, illustrations, picture books, and miscellaneous goods.
