Limited Edition 'Traveling Magnet' Featuring Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Design Released

PENON Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), a company dedicated to craftsmanship that contributes to solving social and global issues, is launching a new original design for its 'Traveling Magnet' series, coinciding with 'TOKYO LIGHTS 2026,' a creative light festival held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and Shinjuku Central Park in West Shinjuku. This product will be sold in advance at two shops located within the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building's observation decks.

The design was created by Shinji Tsuchimochi, a Tokyo-born illustrator popular both in Japan and abroad for a pop style influenced by ukiyo-e. The artwork dynamically captures the fantastical light display produced by the projection mapping on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building with bold composition and striking use of color.

The light gradients and three-dimensional effects are finished with relief processing, allowing you to enjoy the texture. The excitement of looking up at the government building has been encapsulated in this magnet.

During the 'TOKYO LIGHTS 2026' event, a 'TOKYO LIGHTS Spot Rally' will be held in the West Shinjuku area. By scanning QR codes at targeted spots and collecting stamps from all seven locations, participants can receive a limited-edition 'Traveling Magnet' Tokyo Metropolitan Government [TOKYO LIGHTS 2026] (limited to 250 items) on a first-come, first-served basis.

'I believe the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building exists as a symbol of the SF-like futuristic feel that is one of the charms of Shinjuku. In addition, I wanted to incorporate a Japanese sensibility, so I have designed rays of light as rain, inspired by the representation of rain depicted by the ukiyo-e artist Hiroshige.'
