POLA Chemical Industries, which handles research, development, and production for the POLA ORBIS Group, has revealed through research that approximately 80% of people have either sensitive skin or 'unconscious sensitive skin.' In response, the company has developed a new algorithm that allows individuals to objectively understand their 'sensitive skin' status and connect it to appropriate care. This technology will be reflected in a self-check feature to be released on a special site by the sensitive skin care brand DECENCIA.
According to POLA Chemical Industries' proprietary research, while 74% of respondents were aware of having sensitive skin, 78% of those who did not believe they had sensitive skin actually exhibited some form of sensitive skin status, indicating the presence of many cases of 'unconscious sensitive skin.'
The algorithm focuses on small, everyday discomforts that are often overlooked. It redefines sensitivity signs along two axes: 'situations where they are likely to occur (factors)' and 'severity,' visualizing the results as a sensitivity index.
The development was led by the newly established DECENCIA Sensitive Skin Science Center within the research laboratory. By utilizing accumulated subject data and professional expertise, the company provides a 'trigger for awareness' based on scientific evidence.
