Poplar Publishing Co., Ltd. is opening a pop-up shop for the long-running 'Nezumikun Picture Book' series, which has been cherished for over 50 years.

The shop will be located on the 2nd floor, space #9, at Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi. Named 'Nezumikun and Shopping,' it will offer a wide range of merchandise.

Original goods from the anime 'Nezumikun's Vest,' which began airing in April 2026, will make their debut here. Exclusive items available only at this shop will also be offered.

About the 'Nezumikun Picture Book' Series

The protagonist is Nezumikun, recognizable by his red vest.

This heartwarming and humorous series follows the little mouse and his animal friends. Since the first book, 'Nezumikun's Vest,' was published in 1974, it has captivated three generations of families.

By its 52nd year, a total of 44 titles have been published, with cumulative sales exceeding 5 million copies. The series is beloved worldwide as a long-running classic.

Yoshio Naka / Author

Born in Kobe.

Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Nihon University College of Art. After working as a designer at an advertising agency, he became a picture book author.

Notable works include 'Rascal Rara-chan' (winner of the Nippon Picture Book Award, Poplar Publishing), 'Chico of the Door Kingdom,' 'Nezumikun's Feelings' (Poplar Publishing), and many others.

In 2005, he received the 28th Iwaya Kobo Bungaku Prize for his collaborative achievements with Noriko Ueno.

In 2020, he was awarded the Children's Cultural Merit Award by the Japan Children's Literature Association.

Noriko Ueno / Illustrator

Born in Saitama Prefecture.

Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Nihon University College of Art. After working as an illustrator, she became a picture book artist.

Her works include the 'Nezumikun Picture Book' series, including 'Nezumikun's Vest' (winner of the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award, Poplar Publishing), 'Chico of the Door Kingdom' (Poplar Publishing), and many others.

Passed away in February 2019.

★ Even after the passing of Ms. Ueno in 2019, Mr. Naka continues to create new works by digitizing, combining, and compositing past illustrations from the Nezumikun series, ensuring the legacy lives on.
