Kumamoto Prefecture (Governor: Kei Kimura) has announced the total sales of goods and products featuring Kumamon, licensed by private companies and organizations, for the year 2025 (January to December). The 2025 sales amounted to 150.2617 billion JPY, marking the eighth consecutive year that sales have exceeded 150 billion JPY. Additionally, cumulative sales since the survey began in 2011 have reached 1.7725 trillion JPY, further confirming Kumamon's sustained popularity.

Overall sales decreased by approximately 12.4 billion JPY compared to the previous year (92.3% of prior year), but overseas utilization in the food sector increased by about 300 million JPY (118.2% year-on-year).

※ 'Local companies, etc.' refers to products from companies headquartered in Kumamoto Prefecture or products manufactured within the prefecture and exported/sold from Kumamoto (including sales of certain out-of-prefecture companies licensed by the prefecture).

※ 'Overseas companies, etc.' refers to products sold overseas under licensing approval by ADK Emotions Inc.

Compared to 2024, food-related product usage remained nearly unchanged (a decrease of approximately 580 million JPY, or 0.5%), while non-food (goods, etc.) usage decreased by about 11.8 billion JPY (41.3%).

Food product usage remained stable despite increased agricultural product sales, partly due to discontinued products. However, overseas usage by local companies increased by approximately 300 million JPY (23.1%).

Non-food product usage declined due to reduced sales of certain high-value items.
