The Bond Between Totsukawa Village and Shintotsukawa Town■
In 1889, people who lost their homes and fields in a great flood that struck Totsukawa-go, Nara Prefecture (now Totsukawa Village), moved to Hokkaido and pioneered Shintotsukawa Town. The "Totsukawa spirit," embodied by the mottos "Indomitable spirit," "Simplicity and fortitude," and "Unity," has not faded despite the distance, and they continue to live while thinking of, supporting, and visiting each other's hometowns. In Shintotsukawa Town, Totsukawa Village is referred to as the "mother village" and Nara Prefecture as the "mother prefecture," and close exchanges continue. Based on this historical background, in 2017, Nara Prefecture, Totsukawa Village, and Shintotsukawa Town entered into a cooperation agreement to mutually promote the sales of specialty products and disseminate tourism information.
