Saitama Prefecture Decides to Hold "SKIP CITY KINETEC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL"!

Saitama Prefecture, in collaboration with Kawaguchi City and the Kawaguchi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has decided to hold the "SKIP CITY KINETEC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL" for eight days from Sunday, January 31, 2025, to Sunday, February 7, 2025.

1 Name SKIP CITY KINETEC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL * "Kinetec" is a coined word representing "Kinema (Film) + Technology."

5 Features of this Film Festival This festival will inherit the legacy of the "SKIP CITY INTERNATIONAL D-CINEMA FESTIVAL," which has focused on digital cinema since fiscal year 2003 when film was still mainstream, and has served as a gateway for young video creators. It will now evolve to the next stage. (1) From "Digital" to the Era of "Cutting-Edge Visual Technologies" Focusing on rapidly advancing cutting-edge visual technologies such as AI and VFX (Visual Effects), and the diversification of viewing environments beyond movie theaters, a competition for film and video works "using cutting-edge technologies" will be held. (2) Promotion of Local Visual Industry To further promote the visual industry, an exhibition and business matching event for the local visual industry and related businesses will be held, along with hands-on demonstrations of the latest visual technologies. (3) Collaboration with NHK SKIP CITY is developing a facility in Kawaguchi (tentative name) as a base for NHK's content production, such as historical dramas (scheduled to begin operation in fiscal year 2026). In response to this, the film festival plans to hold exhibitions in collaboration with NHK.
