Saitama Prefectural Archives to Host Chichibu Pilgrimage Exhibition for 2026 Grand Opening

The Saitama Prefectural Archives will hold a special exhibition titled 'Journey of the Fudasho: Chichibu Pilgrimage and the Year of the Horse Grand Opening' from June 6 to September 6, 2026. This event coincides with the once-in-12-years grand opening of the Chichibu 34 Kannon pilgrimage sites. Using archival historical documents, the exhibition explores the pilgrimage's popularity during the Edo period, its integration into the 'Japan 100 Kannon' network, and its modern revival.
