At the Animal Forest in Uminonakamichi Seaside Park (Higashi Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), baby animals have been born one after another since March. So far, babies of sheep, kangaroos, Tokara goats, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and lion-tailed macaques have been born. The birth of lambs is the first in five years, and the Tokara goat baby is the first in seven years! This is also the only time you can see baby monkeys being carried on their mothers' backs, while they are still young.

Two baby kangaroos were born in April and May respectively. They are entering and exiting their mothers' pouches less frequently and beginning to act independently. Both babies are quite cautious and easily frightened.

Mother Hiro has given birth an incredible nine times! The baby is characterized by its round eyes and gradually lengthening body fur.

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park is located on a sandbar called 'Uminonakamichi,' surrounded by two seas—Hakata Bay and the Genkai Sea. It is a national park with an expansive area of approximately 350 hectares, stretching about six kilometers from east to west. The park allows visitors to enjoy seasonal flowers throughout the year, and in the 'Animal Forest,' guests can interact with cute animals such as squirrel monkeys, capybaras, and kangaroos. On March 15, 2022, a new stay-type recreational hub called the 'Plaza of Light and Wind' opened, offering experiences centered around 'relaxing, learning, and playing.'
