Prince Grand Resort Karuizawa (Karuizawa, Karuizawa Town, North Saiku District, Nagano Prefecture, General Manager: Yukiko Kageyama) will operate summer snow play areas and evening cooling events this summer, which is expected to be extremely hot, and propose various "summer cooling activities" unique to highland resorts.

Summer Snow Play Area "Karuizawa Snowland" Opens This Summer

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency's warm season outlook for this year, this summer is expected to be easily covered by warm air, and temperatures nationwide are expected to be higher than average. In addition, last year recorded the hottest summer on record, with record high temperatures continuing for three consecutive years, and the normalization of extreme heat is progressing. After the rainy season, demand for leisure activities in resort areas is expected to increase further. In Karuizawa, where the average maximum temperature in July and August last year was around 28°C, about 6°C lower than central Tokyo, we will offer experiences that allow you to spend a cool summer despite the expected severe heat.

Against the backdrop of recent climate change, this summer, Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort has started operating a snow play area "Karuizawa Snowland" utilizing snowmaking technology and operational know-how cultivated as an artificial snow ski resort. Using artificial snowmaking machines used for winter ski resort operations, it is characterized by maintaining stable snowmaking even in the summer when outdoor temperatures are high. In addition to the cool climate of Karuizawa at an altitude of about 1,000 meters, we will provide a refreshing experience of touching snow in the middle of summer, a non-daily experience.

In addition, Prince Grand Resort Karuizawa will propose new summer leisure options such as "Karuizawa Mist," which operates artificial snowmaking machines to generate mist, evening cooling events and programs, and refreshing gourmet food, under the recent severe heat environment.
