'Sustainable World and Us: Toward Achieving the SDGs'
Eikei University (President Mutsuhiro Arunobu, Naka Ward, Hiroshima City) launched its mandatory course 'Sustainable World and Us: Toward Achieving the SDGs' on Wednesday, June 10, as a three-day intensive program.
This course provides students with an opportunity to reflect on how to achieve the SDGs based on their prior academic studies and extracurricular activities. Guest speakers were invited from diverse sectors including international organizations, securities companies, and research institutions.
Dialogue-based classes were conducted by specialists deeply knowledgeable about each of the five P’s linked to the 17 SDG goals—Peace, Partnership, People, Prosperity, and Planet. Following these sessions, students proposed solutions to specific social issues they identified using the five P framework.
On the second day, students were grouped using color-coded cards based on their interests and preferences.
(At our university, 'People' was the most popular category!)
Finally, the Dean delivered a closing message: 'Social system design begins with creating a desirable future.'
