Mynavi Publishing Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Terunori Kadotake), which manages the women's shogi title match "Mynavi Women's Open" (Organized by: Mynavi Corporation, Japan Shogi Association), will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. To commemorate this milestone, two parent-child pairs (4 people) of elementary school students or older who are diligently improving their shogi skills will be invited to attend the first round qualifiers held on July 18 (Sat.). By providing an opportunity to closely experience the intense matches of top female professional players and amateur athletes, we aim to embody the founding purpose of this tournament: "to support women who work independently."
Scenes from past matches
"I want to be like this in the future" – experience it live. 20th Anniversary Parent-Child Invitation
The invitation is extended to children and their guardians who participate in the "Elementary School Girls' Shogi Master Tournament" and "Junior High School Girls' Shogi Master Tournament" organized by the Ladies Professional Shogi Association (LPSA), as well as the "GSP (Girls' Shogi Project) Challenge" aimed at nurturing female shogi players. For those who are not selected in the lottery for live viewing or find it difficult to travel, discounted web viewing tickets will be available.
Witnessing firsthand, in the same venue, the figures of women who are seriously engaged in shogi and continue to compete at the forefront, alongside their guardians. This experience will serve as an opportunity for young girls who enjoy shogi to concretely envision "their own future stage of achievement." Supporting the challenges of the next generation is also in line with the very nature of this tournament, which supports the advancement of women.
First Round Qualifiers with 48 Female Professionals and Amateur Players
The "Mynavi Women's Open" is a women's title match established in 2007 with the aspiration to "support women who work independently." Its distinctive feature is being an "open tournament" that includes slots for amateur female players. Players who advance through the preliminary tournament compete for the right to challenge for the title of "Queen" through the main tournament and a best-of-five match. A total of 48 female professional players and amateur athletes will compete in the qualifiers to earn a spot in the main tournament.
This tournament is not only a stage for the intense matches of top female professional players but also an arena that opens its doors to amateurs, allowing women of all ages and backgrounds to challenge themselves.
