Receiving the World-Renowned 'Red Dot Award 2026' Water-Permeable and Storage Concrete 'Dotcon+'
'Ground That Absorbs Rain and Stops Floods' Heads Global Expanding Next-Generation Infrastructure Through the Fusion of Academia, Technology, and Global Management
'Dotcon+', a next-generation paving system developed by PUMPMAN Inc. (Headquarters: Akiruno, Tokyo; CEO: Tatsuya Ozawa), has received the 'Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026,' one of the world's top three design awards.
Dotcon+ is a next-generation infrastructure technology featuring water-permeable, storage, and infiltration capabilities, developed under the concept: 'Absorb the Rain. Stop the Floods.'
This award recognizes its innovation not just as a paving material, but as a 'social issue-solving infrastructure' that achieves: - Urban flood control - Climate adaptation - Mitigation of the heat island effect - Sustainable urban development - Reduction of environmental impact
This product has also received the 'Good Design Award Gold Award' in Japan, marking a successful international recognition of a technology already highly regarded domestically.
From Urban Design to Innovative Design An Exceptional Re-evaluation During Judging Dotcon+ was initially entered in the 'Urban Design' category. However, during the Red Dot Award assessment process, it was re-evaluated and deemed to have 'innovation that exceeds the framework of conventional urban infrastructure,' leading to its transition to the 'Innovative Design' category and final award. This confirms its evaluation as an 'infrastructure technology that changes urban water circulation itself,' rather than mere landscape design.
High Compatibility with Globally Rising 'Sponge City' and 'Green Infrastructure' Trends Efforts to 'return urban areas to natural water cycles' are accelerating, particularly in Europe. Dotcon+ aligns perfectly with these global trends through features such as: - On-site infiltration and storage of rainwater - Capacity to store approx. 13L of rainwater per square meter - Reduced dependence on underground storage facilities - Heat island mitigation - Carbon recycling through the use of recycled materials
Academia × Technology Leading Expert in Concrete Engineering Joins as Advisor Professor Yasuhiro Koda of the Department of Civil Engineering at Nihon University's College of Engineering—an authority on reinforced concrete structures and durability design—has been appointed as a technical advisor. Through joint research based at Nihon University's Koriyama Campus, technical validations necessary for domestic and international deployment are underway, including structural testing, durability evaluation, long-term monitoring of water permeability, load testing, and verification of public infrastructure adaptability.
Management × Global Management Structure Accelerating Global Expansion Eiichi Matsushima, former Senior Executive Partner at PwC Consulting and currently Senior Managing Executive Officer at Monster Lab Japan and Director at SOLIZE, has been appointed as a Director at PUMPMAN Inc. Leveraging over 25 years of experience leading DX and transformation for global manufacturing firms, he is driving the international business strategy and deployment of Dotcon+.
