Forests of Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido and the sea of Ibusuki in Kagoshima. 'Machi Libraries' are being launched to leverage the unique natural environments of Qkamura resorts. Located 40 minutes from New Chitose Airport, 'Qkamura Shikotsuko' and 'Qkamura Ibusuki,' situated within the Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park, will simultaneously open new branches of the nationwide 'Machi Library' project on Monday, June 1st. The cities of Chitose and Ibusuki are sister cities with a long history of exchange. By combining the 'Machi Library' concept with Qkamura's natural surroundings, they aim to create spaces for interaction through books in contrasting locations: forest vs. sea, north vs. south. At Qkamura Shikotsuko, the 'Machi Library Mori no Jikan @ Qkamura' features bookshelves made from repurposed apple crates. At Qkamura Ibusuki, the 'Machi Library Nagisa no Jikan @ Qkamura' offers reading spaces with views of Kinkowan Bay. Both facilities will also offer special summer buffets to enhance the guest experience through both literature and local cuisine.
