Red Box has launched a new business, 'Red Box Bio,' which scientifically analyzes menstrual blood data to continuously visualize women's health status.

Simultaneously, the company is opening applications for pilot trials targeting female athletes and sports teams.

*This service provides research, analysis, and data services using menstrual blood and is not intended for medical practice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Making 'Life Data Obtainable Every Month' a Social Infrastructure

Menstruation is a highly dense time-series biological dataset occurring approximately 12 times a year. Menstrual blood contains vital life information that reflects a woman's physical state in real-time, such as hormones, proteins, metabolites, and cellular information.

By non-invasively and continuously analyzing this data, Red Box Bio aims to build a 'new life information foundation that records and analyzes female bodily changes every month, non-invasively and continuously,' visualizing condition changes, hormonal trends, iron-related indicators, inflammation-related data, mitochondrial-related indicators, and fatigue/recovery trends.

*Acquired data is for research, statistical analysis, and condition understanding, and is not intended for disease diagnosis or medical judgment.

Three Key Features

1. Continuous Cycle Data: Menstruation allows for data acquisition about 12 times a year, suitable for building individual baselines. Continuous accumulation leads to early detection of minor physical changes or warning signs.

2. Female-Specific Data: Enables analysis in female-specific domains such as hormonal fluctuations, reproductive function, PMS, and endometriosis, which have been under-researched.

3. Family Asset Data: Accumulates as a life log spanning 30-40 years from menarche to menopause, and allows for comparative analysis across two or three generations of parents and sisters. It forms new healthcare assets that exponentially increase in value over time and across families.

Service Flow

1. Collection: Sampled in about 5 minutes during menstruation using a dedicated kit. 2. Analysis: Analysis of hormones, proteins, metabolites, and cellular info. 3. Storage: Continuous preservation as time-series data. 4. Visualization: AI analyzes cycle variations and long-term trends. 5. Utilization: Applied to preventive medicine, health improvement, fertility management, life planning, and cross-generational health analysis.

Utilizing 'Period Data' for Female Athletes

Red Box Bio focuses on the female athlete sector. Female athletes' conditions are known to be affected by hormonal fluctuations due to menstrual cycles, iron deficiency, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), fatigue/recovery status, sleep, and mental fluctuations. However, female-specific physical data has not been sufficiently accumulated, making continuous understanding difficult.

Red Box Bio aims to contribute to athletes' self-understanding and research data accumulation by analyzing menstrual blood as 'monthly obtainable condition data.'

*This service does not guarantee improvement in athletic performance or disease prevention.

Background and Recruitment of Co-creation Partners

This trial aims to create an environment where female athletes can better understand their physical conditions, leading to improved condition management and long-term health literacy.

To verify and develop this initiative, we are recruiting co-creation partners including sports teams, universities, research institutions, corporations, and healthcare professionals. We will conduct hearings on sport disciplines, team size, and measurement objectives to design optimal operations for each team.
