Red Bull BC One World Champion ISSIN's Hometown Okayama Hosts First Qualifier! Red Bull BC One Cypher Okayama

Energy drink brand Red Bull held a regional qualifier for Red Bull BC One in Okayama City on July 12 (Sun).

Red Bull BC One is a 1on1 breakdancing world championship hosted by Red Bull, now in its 23rd year.

Last year, the Red Bull BC One World Final was held in Japan for the first time in nine years. ISSIN, hailing from Okayama City, shone as the B-Boy world champion. To commemorate his victory, the regional qualifier Red Bull BC One City Cypher was held for the first time in Okayama City.

A total of 178 participants, including 151 B-Boys and 27 B-Girls, took part in Red Bull BC One Cypher Okayama.

The winners were B-Boy philip (22 years old, from Osaka Prefecture) and B-Girl shu (22 years old, from Tokyo).

The two winners will challenge the Japan final Red Bull BC One Cypher Japan, scheduled for August 23 (Sun) in Nagoya, along with other regional qualifier winners and Wild Card (invited dancers).

Tickets for the Japan final will go on sale from July 24 (Fri). On the day before the tournament, August 22 (Sat), the experiential event Red Bull BC One Camp Japan will also be held, where you can fully enjoy breakdancing and hip-hop culture through battles and workshops. As part of the program, the Japan final qualifier Red Bull BC One Cypher Japan Final Prelim will be held, where one remaining spot each for B-Boy and B-Girl can be obtained for Red Bull BC One Cypher Japan.

Additional information and entry acceptance for the Japan final qualifier will begin on July 24 (Fri) on the homepage.

Regarding the victory, B-Boy philip commented, "I'm happy. I practiced to bring out a new version of myself. My goal for (Red Bull BC One Cypher Japan) is to 'do it.'"

B-Girl shu said, "I went to Sapporo (Red Bull BC One Cypher Sapporo) and it didn't work out, so I was about to give up, but I challenged again and I'm glad I got results. It's about giving it your all."

Kaku (right), who participated in the Red Bull BC One World Final in 2006 and 2009, also took part in the qualifier.
