ReGACY Innovation Group Inc. and the Local Innovation Association have been conducting the "Izumisano Startup Support Program" in partnership with Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture, since fiscal year 2025. At the results presentation held on March 25, five selected startups reported on the outcomes of their pilot projects themed around the "circular economy," conducted in collaboration with local Izumisano companies. Izumisano City, while leveraging its location across from Kansai International Airport, faces challenges such as population decline and an aging society, making the creation of new industries a priority. This program aims to attract domestic and international startups through open innovation with local businesses to create new jobs within the city. For fiscal year 2025, the program focused on the circular economy, targeting untapped resources such as those found in local food complexes. During the presentation, five companies—Shinshu University's Amano Laboratory, Environmental Microbiology Research Institute, Symbiobe, Your Arbor, and Recotech—reported on their pilot results, including the utilization of unused resources, carbon footprint visualization, and waste management systems. The program will continue in fiscal year 2026, with recruitment for the next cohort scheduled to begin in late May.
