A new design 'Hanashirushi' that carves the flow of time and feelings with seasonal plant motifs of spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
The bridal jewelry atelier 'renri' located in Bashamichi, Yokohama, has announced a new engraved pattern design called 'Hanashirushi' (Flower Mark). It features a total of 20 hand-engraved designs using plants and flowers that symbolize the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter as motifs. This design can be selected in both the handmade course and the order-made course.
Thoughts behind the development -- 'A ring to remember every year when the same season arrives'
20 hand-engraved patterns featuring seasonal flowers and plants as motifs. Wedding rings are things that are 'simple and usable for a long time,' yet couples 'want to include a sense of themselves.' This design was born from such customer voices.
The theme that renri's designers and craftsmen arrived at together was 'the seasons.' Every year, the four seasons come around and show slightly different expressions even though they seem the same. By casually incorporating that flow of time into the ring, the meaning deepens as you wear it and grow older. This is a new form unique to hand engraving that cannot be found in ready-made products.
We put our wish into it so that couples can choose their own special season, allowing them to remember it just by casually looking at their fingers whenever the season comes around.
Product Features
A story woven by hand-engraved patterns of seasonal flowers and the language of flowers Each design was completed through multiple sketches after researching seasonal plants. We carefully shaped them while valuing the harmony between 'the form of plants' and 'the beauty as an engraved pattern'.
Spring From bottom: Cherry Blossom, Mimosa, Marguerite, Baby's Breath, Lily of the Valley. The five flowers incorporated into the spring design are Cherry Blossom, Mimosa, Marguerite, Baby's Breath, and Lily of the Valley. All of them are flowers with a soft and pale impression unique to spring. The flower language of Cherry Blossom is 'spiritual beauty' and 'purity', while Baby's Breath means 'happiness' and 'pure heart' – words you would gently want to add to a precious wedding ring. It is a design that naturally blends into daily life and is easy to incorporate casually.
A new design that overlaps with this current season From late April to May, when the cherry blossom front settles down, Marguerites and Lilies of the Valley reach their peak blooming time. The flower language of Marguerite is 'true love,' and Lily of the Valley is 'return of happiness.' Just like flowers that bloom again in the same season every year, the couple's time will gently continue to overlap. Every time this season comes, looking at the ring will revive their memories—this wish is embedded in the spring engraving patterns.
Summer From bottom: Sunflower, Hydrangea, Rose, Forget-me-not, Water Lily. The five flowers included in the summer design are Sunflower, Hydrangea, Rose, Forget-me-not, and Water Lily. The Sunflower blooming straight towards the sun means 'admiration' and 'passion'; Hydrangea means 'strong affection'; Rose means 'love' and 'beauty'; and Forget-me-not means 'true love'. It is a design where you can feel sincerity within the strength of summer.
Autumn From bottom: Chrysanthemum, Fragrant Olive, Gerbera, Pampas Grass, Maple. The five flowers incorporated into the autumn design are Chrysanthemum, Fragrant Olive, Gerbera, Pampas Grass, and Maple. The Fragrant Olive means 'humility' and 'first love'; Maple means 'precious memories' and 'beautiful changes'; Gerbera means 'hope' and 'moving forward'. Much like the atmosphere of deepening autumn, it is a design that makes you feel somewhat nostalgic amidst its calmness.
Winter From bottom: Daffodil, Camellia, Holly, Snowdrop, Anemone. The five flowers included in the winter design are Daffodil, Camellia, Holly, Snowdrop, and Anemone. The Snowdrop has the flower language of 'hope' and 'consolation'; Camellia means 'modest kindness' and 'pride'; Holly means 'I will protect you'. Like flowers blooming quietly in the severe cold, the design is dignified yet warm.
Delicacy unique to hand engraving All engravings are applied by hand by skilled craftsmen. Even with the same pattern, the slight shading and three-dimensional effect born from the strength of the engraving are charms unique to hand engraving that machines cannot fully express. They are carefully finished while considering the balance with the width and size of the ring.
