BTL Laboratory Becomes First Testing Institution in Taiwan to Implement Rohde & Schwarz's CTIA-Compliant OTA Test System

Rohde & Schwarz has provided a complete R&S TS8991 OTA test system compliant with CTIA Certification standards to BTL Laboratory, an independent testing institution in Taiwan. Rohde & Schwarz experts provided hands-on support throughout the audit process required for certification. Through this collaboration, BTL has become the first testing institution in the region to offer comprehensive OTA testing services, including wireless device certification compliant with CTIA Certification OTA requirements, based on the Rohde & Schwarz test system.

BTL selected Rohde & Schwarz to implement a turnkey OTA test solution compliant with CTIA Certification requirements at one of its accredited testing and certification labs in Taiwan. The project provided a ready-to-use, one-stop system including the R&S TS8991 OTA test system, associated measurement software, and third-party test chambers and positioners. Furthermore, Rohde & Schwarz experts provided on-site support through the two accreditation audit processes by TAF (Taiwan Accreditation Foundation) and CTIA Certification to ensure measurement accuracy and capability.

Rohde & Schwarz and BTL collaborated closely to ensure that the test chamber and related infrastructure provide an interference-free testing environment, a key requirement for reliable measurements. The single-vendor delivery model also significantly simplified the procurement process compared to multi-vendor solutions.

As the first testing lab in Taiwan to implement the R&S TS8991 and achieve CTIA Certification, BTL currently provides OTA measurement services for wireless devices equipped with 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technology, particularly for laptops. The measurement software of the implemented test system is upgradeable, allowing for continuous support of new wireless communication standards such as A-GNSS. Furthermore, Rohde & Schwarz provided expertise in the field of antenna measurement, supporting the expansion of capabilities for more advanced tests, such as satellite payload antenna evaluation.
